Saying Goodbye to Procrastination

Hallo everyone, I know some people really struggles with procrastination, I know I’m one of those people who tends to let everything for last time, (last year I swore I would get a nice birthday present before my friend’s birthday… And I got 2 days after).

But this year, I’m ready to make things different and try my best to stay a step ahead of myself. Wanna stop procrastinating too? I separated 3 easy tips we all can follow.

. Set Clear Goals and Break Them Down: Clearly define your tasks and set achievable goals. Break down larger tasks into smaller, more manageable steps. This makes the overall goal less overwhelming and provides a roadmap for progress. When you have a clear path, it’s easier to tackle tasks one step at a time, reducing the likelihood of procrastination.

( Since first of January I promised myself I would write more, even a simple groceries list is already writing more for me, so it’s a start).

. Create a Structured Schedule: Establish a routine that includes dedicated time for work, breaks, and leisure. Having a structured schedule helps create a sense of accountability and discipline. Allocate specific time slots for different tasks and adhere to them as much as possible. This routine not only fosters productivity but also minimizes the temptation to procrastinate when faced with uncertainty about what to do next.

( Honestly I have never done it before, but I’m curious to try it.)

. Eliminate Distractions and Optimize Your Environment: Identify and minimize potential distractions in your workspace. Turn off unnecessary notifications, create a clutter-free environment, and establish a designated area for work. Consider using productivity tools that block distracting websites or apps during focused work periods. Optimizing your surroundings for productivity can significantly reduce the likelihood of procrastination by creating a conducive atmosphere for concentration and task completion.

Those steps look very easy to follow at first, but what about in a long run? Don’t worry about it, as long as you do it every single day, it will getting easier. For example, I like to write at night, when kids are in bed, so I have sometime to quickly clean the kitchen and sit down to write, knowing, that simple clean kitchen will be ready to use tomorrow. Instead of sitting and writing, leaving the mess for later and going to bed after forgetting about the messiness in the kitchen.

One of my goals this year is indeed eliminate distractions about social media. This has been dragging me out of myself for long time, I have lost so much time watching absolutely nothing (but this is another topic, for another post) , that it made me procrastinate Ina. High level I couldn’t never admiti. To be honest, I’m not againsnt to use it, you will never see me raising the flag “social media kill our brains”, I’m just saying it takes my focus away and I would like to use it less (it’s a start).

How about you, do you have any tip to share about how you can beat procrastinating? What’s work for you better?

 See you next time.
